Social Responsibility

Digital Inclusion

Concern for social responsibility is part of the company’s strategic planning

The idea of social responsibility integrated with business is relatively recent. With new demands arising and greater requirement for business transparency, companies have found ways to subsidize aid resources for society. Prati-Donaduzzi instituted its social responsibility internally in a project among its employees. With more than 1,700 employees, Prati-Donaduzzi invests in professional qualifications, and this is shown through the construction of the DIP - Digital Inclusion Program (local PID – Programa de Inclusão Digital), a project that facilitates interactions between employees and digital media.

The idea came up through a suggestion from an employee and is being implemented under the coordination of Rosemari Folle, Manager of the People Management department, and Marcelo Fiorin, Manager of Information Technology, with thanks to the task force endeavors developed by many employees. The DIP instructors are employees of the company who voluntarily enrolled to transmit their knowledge to others. The course is offered free of charge, although the Chairman, Mr. Luiz Donaduzzi warns: “employees need to recognize our investment and come to the classes”.

The DIP is given within the company’s sales department and is composed of five modules: Introduction to Computer Science, Internet, OpenOffice Writer, Calc and Impress. “The objective of digital inclusion is to instruct employees that do not have access to information and communication technologies”, affirms the Program’s coordinator, Rosemari Folle. In this first stage, 60 employees have already taken part, and another 100 people are on the waiting list for the next class. “I am learning a lot, this is a great opportunity for me to increase my knowledge. I did not even know how to turn a computer on and today I can make it work”, says the cleaning assistant, Elianir de Castro, who has been an employee for seven months.

“I was going to pay for a private computer science course when the company offered it for free. We realize the concern to qualify the employees and today I do not depend so much on others to do my job anymore, to issue reports and type texts. I can operate the computer myself”, declared the Works Manager, José Nilton Francisco, who has been an employee for four years. Prati-Donaduzzi intends to train a thousand employees within a short time and optimize their work. The Digital Inclusion Program is a simple and accessible way that the company has found for contributing towards the intellectual growth of its employees and establishing a closer relationship with technology.
