As a way of encouraging the proper disposal of expired or outdated medicines, Prati-Donaduzzi through Prati-Sustentável Project, held on Tuesday (27), an action with students of Waldyr Luiz Becker Municipal School, located in Jardim Fachini in Toledo.

The environmental technician, Faneza de Oliveira, instructor of Prati-Sustainable, explained to students that cartons with leftover pills and glass with leftover syrup should be sent to collection points scattered throughout the city. Most of them are in pharmacies and in the industry itself. After receiving guidance, students separated materials and disposed them properly.

According to Faneza, when waste is disposed in ordinary waste or liquid spilled into sink drains, for example, it may pollute the soil and water, posing a risk to the environment and human health.

The action in the school involved about 100 students from the 4th grade of elementary school. Nine-year-old student Andressa Moreira Cosmann was one of them. When she learned of the activity, she quickly asked her parents to sort out the medicines that could be thrown away. “We separated everything that was expired or not used anymore. I find it very important to participate in the actions that take care of the environment. ”

Cirlei Elizabete Gozzi Moreira, who has been working at the school for more than five years, emphasized the importance of working on this theme, as many people are unaware of it. “Concern about the disposal of medicines is a differential and a very important attitude. This activity has shown that simple actions can help the environment".

The Project

Faneza explained that Prati-Sustentável's goal is to train children who are more committed to environmental responsibility. “Children are great multipliers. We need them in this endeavor, as surveys have shown that a large proportion of end-users throw their leftovers into the sewage or ordinary waste”, she said.

In addition to working on the appropriate destination of medicines, the project addresses topics such as tree planting, technical visits to preservation environments, among others.

“Every theme we work on, we always think about how it can impact students. We want them to become conscious adults. In this specific action, we ensure that the disposal takes place in accordance with current regulations avoiding contamination.”

Upcoming action

The next project activity is scheduled for September with the theme “reforestation and seedling propagation”. The action will be held at Florir Toledo, a project of the municipality of Toledo, which works in one of its activities, environmental specialization, such as land preparation, germination, seedling transplantation and landscaping.
